General Waste Collection Guidelines
- Collection Schedule
- The city is divided into five sections for collection days:

Solid Waste Collection Guidelines
- Each home is provided with one, green, 64-gallon cart
for refuse.
- Each resident may exchange their 64-gallon refuse cart
for either a 35-gallon or 95-gallon refuse cart at an
additional cost of $5.00/month billed directly to the
resident.
- All refuse should be placed out for collection by 6:00
a.m. on the designated collection day.
- A $1.00 pre-paid sticker is required for each bag or
32-gallon container outside the cart.
- Additional refuse containers may not exceed 32-gallons
in size or 50 pounds in weight.
- One (1) bulk item such as a couch, chair, or
mattress will be collected weekly without a pre-paid
sticker.
- Carpeting is considered a bulk item however it must be
cut and rolled in 4-foot lengths.
- Each roll must be tied and not weigh more than 50
pounds.
- Up to 4 rolls will be accepted as one bulk item.
- There will be two “White Goods Days” in the Spring and
Fall of each year which will include collection of white
goods and tires (no rims).
- The Spring White Goods Days will be the 3rd week of
April each year.
- The Fall White Goods Days will be the 3rd week of
October each year.
- Pre-paid refuse stickers are sold at the following
locations:
- Ace Hardware - 9620 Route 34, Yorkville
- Jewel - 234 Veterans Parkway, Yorkville
- Pride Pantry - 302 Bridge Street, Yorkville
- City Hall - 800 Game Farm Road, Yorkville
Recycling Collection Guidelines
- Each home is provided with one, navy blue, 65-gallon
cart for recycling.
- Additional recycling carts are available for rental for
$5.00/month by calling Veolia.
- All recycling should be placed out for collection by
6:00 a.m. on the designated collection day.
- Recycling includes tin, aluminum, news print, cardboard,
glass, and plastics.

Additional recycling may be placed next to
the cart in standard 18-gallon recycling bins - there is no
charge for extra recycling.

Please do not bag extra recyclables.
Yardwaste Collection Guidelines (April 1 through November
30)
- Yard waste must be placed in 33-gallon Kraft paper bags
designed for yard waste collection.
- These bags may be purchased at local retail stores.
- All yard waste material should be placed out for
collection by 6:00 a.m. on the designated collection day.
- Brush and/or branches (less than 4 inches in diameter)
must be cut Into 4-foot lengths, bundled with string or
twine and not exceed 50 pounds.
- Christmas trees will be collected free of charge during
the first two weeks in January.
Items Not Included in the Normal Weekly Collection
- Construction/Demolition Materials
- White Goods - (Call Veolia for pick-up options)
- Large Automotive Parts
- Hazardous Wastes (Paints, Oils, Flammables, Hot Ash)
- Tires
- Materials from floods, fires, evictions
Hazardous Waste/Medical Products/Latex Paint Cans
- Toxic products such as automotive batteries, oil base
paints, insecticides, oil, anti-freeze, etc. cannot be
collected through your residential pickup.

- Syringes used for home medical purposes may only be disposed
of in, rigid plastic containers.
- "Sharps" containers designed for syringe disposal can be
obtained through your local pharmacy.
- Latex paint cans are only accepted if empty or dry.
- Kitty litter or oil dry can be used to dry up unused
paint.

- Christmas Day
- Depending on the holiday, and the day of the week on which
it falls, your collection may be delayed one day.
