General Waste Collection Guidelines
- Refuse must be out at the curb by 6:30 AM every
Wednesday for collection.
- Missed pickups can be rescheduled by calling Veolia
Environmental Services Customer Service at 847-623-3870 no later than Thursday morning.
- Veolia ES does not pickup in the area after Thursday.
- Each residence is provided with one 90-gallon cart for trash and all trash must be placed in the container.
- Veolia ES will replace broken carts and will deliver carts for new customers.
- Additional containers may be purchased by calling Veolia
ES Customer Service at 847-623-3870.
- Please be sure to secure your refuse to prevent wind
blown litter.
Bulk Items Collection
- Each residence is allowed one bulk item per week at no
charge.
- Bulk items include any regular household furniture,
i.e., couch, chair, mattress.
- Rolls of carpet are a bulk item and each tied roll
cannot exceed six feet in length or 50 lbs maximum weight
and must be manageable by one person.
- Extra Pickups
- Excess household trash, additional bulk items, and all
building materials must be scheduled for pickup by calling
Village Hall or Veolia ES Customer Service at 847-623-3870
at least 24 hrs. prior to pickup.
- There is an additional per yard charge for extras.
Solid Waste Collection Guidelines
- Building Materials
- One (1) cubic yard of building material is allowed
each week at no charge.
- There is a charge per cubic yard for additional
building material such as wood, drywall, fencing, etc.
- This charge is payable on a c.o.d. basis or can be
charged to Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
- Arrange these pickups at least 24 hrs. prior to your
regularly scheduled pickup day by calling Veolia ES
Customer Service at 847-623-3870.
- White Goods/Appliances
- White goods containing freon will be picked up with
a charge.
- There is no charge for the pickup of white goods
such as washers, dryers, ranges, water heaters, and
other similar appliances.
- However, pickups must be scheduled by calling Veolia
Environmental Services Customer Service at 847-623-3870
no later than 2 p.m. on Tuesday for that week's pickup.
- Items we cannot collect
- Liquid waste, hazardous or special waste, dirt, stone,
concrete, or compressed air tanks.
Recycling Collection Guidelines
- Recycling Carts
- Veolia ES provides one (1) 35-gallon recycle cart per resident.
- Acceptable Paper Items
- Newspapers (with inserts)
- Computer paper
- Junk mail with envelopes
- Magazines
- Catalogs
- Telephone books
- Chipboard (cereal boxes)
- Corrugated cardboard
- Arranged in 2' X 2' squares and bundled with string
- Acceptable Plastic, Cans & Glass (Co-mingled Rigid Products)
- All items must be rinsed for recycling.
- Food
contaminated products will not be accepted.
- Glass bottles and jars
- Clear, brown and green colors
- Lids must be removed.
- Cans: Tins and bi-metal
- No chemical solvents or pesticides
- Aluminum
- Cans and formed trays (frozen dinners)
- Plastic #1 through #7 and beverage rings
- No plastic grocery bags or uncoded plastics
- Make sure your address is on your recycling cart.
- If you move, leave the recycling cart for the next homeowner.
- Preparing your recycling cart for collection
- Recycling materials should be carefully placed in the 35 gallon cart and placed at the curb on the same day as refuse collection.
- Please make sure recyclables are clean and empty.
- Improperly prepared recyclables and non-recyclable items will not be picked up.
- All recyclable materials may be mixed together in the 35 gallon cart.
- Veolia Environmental Services will separate, process and market the recyclable commodities.
- Place your cart out for collection by 6:00 AM on the scheduled date to avoid missed service.
- Items we cannot collect
- Toys, shirt hangers, metal parts, diapers, pizza
boxes, plastic bags, Styrofoam peanuts, light bulbs, plate glass, Pyrex, ceramic
glass, pesticide containers, or any containers that contain oil or antifreeze.
Yardwaste Collection Guidelines
- Yardwaste Stickers can be purchased at Village Hall or
Ace Hardware, 659 Railroad Ave, Round Lake.
- Starting in early April and running through November 30th, residents may place yard waste, grass clippings, leaves and small twigs at the curb on their normal pick up day.
- Twigs and branches, no larger than three inches in diameter, must be bundled in lengths of five (5) feet or less
weighing less than 50 lbs and secured by string or twine.
- Do not use wire or tape on the bundles.
- Yardwaste stickers must be affixed to each bundle.
- Tree trunks and branches over 3' in diameter are not considered yardwaste.
- Other yardwaste must be placed at the curb in brown biodegradable paper yard waste bags or in plastic 30-gallon or smaller containers clearly marked "yard waste only".
- Each container must have a yardwaste sticker on them.
- Christmas trees will be taken for two (2) weeks after Christmas only.
- The following yardwaste items will not be collected:
- Dirt, rocks, sod, sand, bricks, etc.

- Depending on the holiday, and the day of the week on which
it falls, your collection may be delayed one day.
