General Waste Collection Guidelines

  1. Mill Creek residents may choose to participate in either the volume based program or flat monthly rate refuse cart service.
    1. With either program each residence will receive one 65-gallon blue recycling cart at the beginning of the new contract for recycling.
      1. This cart is not to be used for refuse collection.
      2. Due to the timing of the contract approval process, the carts will not be available until the last week in September.
         
  2. Participation in one of the programs is mandatory.
    1. The revenue from waste collection funds the recycling program.
       
  3. Pre-paid refuse tags are available at the following retailers:
    1. Dominick's 2000 N. Randall Rd, Geneva
    2. Jewel Foods 119 S. Randall Rd, Batavia
    3. Jewel Foods, 2073 Prairie, St. Charles
    4. Meijer 855 S. Randall Rd, St. Charles
    5. Veolia Environmental Services 1210 Lyon Rd, Batavia
       
  4. To arrange for refuse cart service please contact Veolia ES at 630-587-8282.
     
  5. Please have all material out for collection by 6:00 AM.
     
  6. Mill Creek collection for refuse, recycle and yard waste will be on Wednesdays.
     
  7. Co-collection vehicles are used for both solid waste and recycling.
    1. There are separate compartments, and both the recyclables and waste are kept separate at all times from collection to end processing.
       
  8. Recycling Info for Other Items:

Solid Waste Collection Guideliness

  1. Refuse Sticker Program
    1. The following items are considered one disposal unit, and require a pre-paid bright green refuse disposal sticker:
      1. Waste containers or generic plastic bags no larger than 32 gallons in capacity, limited to 50 pounds of waste.
      2. Bundles of debris such as carpeting and wood should be no larger than 4 feet in length or weigh over 50 pounds.
      3. Large household items such as any item of furniture or appliances.
         
  2. Special Pick-ups and Exceptions
    1. Large amounts of demolition and construction debris can be collected by a special pickup.
      1. Please contact Veolia ES to arrange for pick-up.
    2. Toxic and hazardous wastes such as car batteries, acids, caustics, flammable or explosive materials and potentially harmful wastes cannot be collected.

Recycling Collection Guidelines

  1. Each residence will receive one 65-gallon blue recycling cart at the beginning of the contract.
    1. This blue recycling cart is to be used for recycling only, NOT FOR REFUSE.
      1. If refuse is mixed with recycling in the blue cart, the cart will NOT be serviced until all refuse is removed.
         
  2. It is not necessary to sort recyclable materials; all recyclables may be placed together in the recycling cart.
     
  3. The following items are accepted in the recycling program.
    1. Paper Products
      1. Newspapers with all ad inserts
      2. Junk Mail
      3. Magazines
      4. Chipboard
      5. Office Paper
      6. Telephone Books
      7. Paper Grocery Bags
      8. Corrugated Cardboard
        1. 3’ X 3’ maximum
    2. Rigid Products
      1. Aluminum Cans
      2. Steel Cans
      3. Plastic Milk Jugs
      4. Glass Bottles and Jars
      5. Tin Cans
      6. Paint Cans (empty)
      7. Soda Bottles
      8. Aerosol Cans (empty)
         
  4. Recyclable Plastics
    PETE:  Peanut butter jars, soft drink bottles
    HDPE:  Milk jugs, laundry detergent jugs
    PVC:  Vegetable oil bottles, window cleaners
    LDPE:  Dry cleaning bags, bread bags, six pack rings
    PP:  Yogurt cups, shampoo bottles, margarine tubs
    Other:  Catsup bottles, microwave serving ware
  5. Items not accepted:
    1. Containers for motor oil, pesticides or chemicals
    2. Plastic bags, packing peanuts, styrofoam or plastic wrap
    3. Polystyrene (code #6) such as egg cartons and meat trays
    4. Computers
Yardwaste Collection Guidelines
  1. Yard Waste is collected from April 1 until November 30.
     
  2. Yard waste cannot be mixed with normal waste for collection.
    1. Plastic bags or cans cannot be used.
     
  3. The following items are considered one disposal unit.
    1. Kraft paper bag limited to 50 pounds of yard waste.
      1. Each 50# Kraft paper yard waste bag requires a pre-paid bright orange Yard Waste Program Sticker affixed where visible to the driver for pick-up.
    2. Bundles of brush or branches no longer than 4 feet in length or weighing over 50 pounds.
      1. Branches cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter
    3. Christmas Trees
       
  4. Yard waste cart service is available.

  1. Veolia Environmental Services observes the following holidays.

  2. Depending on the holiday, and the day of the week on which it falls, your collection may be delayed one day.
