General Waste Collection Guidelines

1. A Convenient Schedule
   1. The city is broken down into three sections for collection days:
      1. Monday - West of Randall Rd
      2. Thursday - East of the Fox River
      3. Friday - East of Randall Rd / West of the Fox River

2. Residents choose to participate in either the volume based program or flat monthly rate cart service.
   1. To arrange for cart service, please call Veolia Environmental Services Customer Service at 630-587-8282.
       
3. Pre-paid FULL SIZE and HALF SIZE bags and tags are available at the following retailers in the City:
   1. Ace - Hardware 1901 W. Wilson
   2. Amstadt's Finer Foods 25 S. Van Buren
   3. Citgo Service Center 27 N. Batavia
   4. City Hall 100 N. Island Ave.
   5. Dominick's 2000 N. Randall Rd., Geneva
   6. Jewel Foods 119 S. Randall Rd.
   7. Jewel Foods 1157 N. Eola, Aurora
   8. Meijer 855 S. Randall Rd., St. Charles
   9. Veolia ES 1210 Lyon
   10. 7-Eleven 336 E. Wilson St.
        
4. Sticker & Container Price Changes Effective June 1, 2007

5. All containers or bags cannot exceed 50 pounds each.
    
6. Please have all material out for collection by 6:00 A. M.
    
7. Co-collection vehicles are used for both solid waste and recycling.
   1. There are separate compartments, and both the recyclables and waste are kept separate at all times from collection to end processing.
       
8. Please be sure to secure your refuse to prevent wind blown litter.

Solid Waste Collection Guidelines

1. The following items are considered one disposal unit, and require either a pre-paid disposal sticker or pre-paid full size bag:
   1. Waste containers or generic plastic bags no larger than 32 gallons in capacity, limited to 50 pounds of waste.
   2. Bundles of debris such as carpeting and wood should be no larger than 4 feet in length or weigh over 50 pounds.
   3. Large household items such as any item of furniture or appliances.
       
2. Special Pickups and Exceptions
   1. Large amounts of demolition and construction debris can be collected by a special pickup.
      1. Please contact Veolia ES Customer Service at 630-587-8282 to arrange for pick up.
   2. Toxic and hazardous wastes such as car batteries, acids, caustics, flammable or explosive materials, and potentially harmful wastes cannot be collected.

Recycling Collection Guidelines

   1. Newspaper
   2. Corrugated Cardboard
      1. Must be flattened and cut in pieces no larger than 3’x3’. Large amounts should be bundled with string.
   3. Junk Mail
   4. Telephone Books
   5. Magazines
   6. Paper Grocery Bags
   7. Chip Board
   8. Product Packaging
   9. Office Paper
       
2. Recyclable Rigid Products
   1. Steel Cans
   2. Tin Cans
   3. Aluminum Cans
   4. Aerosol Cans (empty)
   5. Dry Cell Batteries
   6. Glass Bottles and Jars
   7. Juice Boxes
   8. Used Motor Oil
       
3. Recyclable Plastic Products

	PETE:  Peanut butter jars, soft drink bottles
	HDPE:  Milk jugs, laundry detergent jugs
	PVC:  Vegetable oil bottles, window cleaners
	LDPE:  Dry cleaning bags, bread bags, six pack rings
	PP:  Yogurt cups, shampoo bottles, margarine tubs
	Other:  Catsup bottles, microwave serving ware

4. Items not Accepted for Recycling

   1. Containers for Motor Oil, pesticides, or chemicals

   2. Plastic bags, packing peanuts, or plastic wrap

1. Yardwaste is collected from March thru December.
    
2. Yardwaste cannot be mixed with normal waste for collection.
   1. Plastic bags cannot be used.
       
3. The following items are considered one disposal unit and require either a pre-paid Kraft paper bag or a pre-paid disposal sticker:
   1. Kraft paper bag (pre-paid or generic) limited to 50 pounds of yard waste.
      1. Generic bags require a sticker.
   2. Bundles of brush or branches no longer than 4 feet in length or weighing over 50 pounds.
      1. Branches cannot exceed 3 inches in diameter.
   3. Christmas Trees
   4. Cart Service is Available

Holiday Schedule

1. Veolia Environmental Services observes the following holidays.
   1. New Years Day
   2. Memorial Day
   3. Independence Day
   4. Labor Day
   5. Thanksgiving Day
   6. Christmas Day
       
2. Depending on the holiday, and the day of the week on which it falls, your collection may be delayed one day.
